About

Jordan Hernandez:

I am a freelance writer residing in Portland, OR. In 2013 I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a B.A. in English- with a concentration in Journalism. I also obtained a minor in Entrepreneurship with a focus on Hospitality & Tourism. Currently, I am a writer for the Portland-based digital ad agency Instrument working on a team solely devoted to one of our biggest clients, Nike. Iā€™m also a Copywriter & Research writer with Travel Portland.

I have been freelance writing for the last decade, and my work has been featured in various places such as: Vogue Magazine, Oregon Humanities, Travel Oregon, Travel Portland, OPB, The Huffington Post, etc.

Previously, I worked with children, youth and families at Raphael House of Portland, a local domestic violence shelter in the community. Through my position, I was given the opportunity to teach a writing workshop to children and families, which combined my passion for serving & working with people in the community and teaching the significance and value of art, words and story telling through a trauma-informed lens.

You can always find me reading & writing for pleasure, as well as hiking, camping and exploring various parts of Oregon. I can also be found next to the cheese at any party or probably eating the chocolate from the back of my freezer I forgot about. Traveling is also a source of both inspiration and joy, and I hope to continually combine writing and traveling in the future.
